Artwork Guidelines
Creating Your Custom Slipmat
Want to turn your artwork, logo, photograph or design into a custom Slipmatworld slipmat?
We print your artwork directly onto the slipmat, so providing a good-quality file will help us achieve the best possible result.
Please read the guidelines below before submitting your artwork.
Artwork Requirements
High-resolution artwork
For the best print quality, please provide artwork at the highest resolution available.
We recommend:
300 DPI at the final print size wherever possible.
Low-resolution images may appear pixelated, blurry or soft when printed, particularly where fine details or text are involved.
Recommended file formats
We can work with a range of common artwork formats, including:
- AI
- EPS
- PSD
- TIFF
- PNG
- JPG / JPEG
For logos, illustrations and designs containing text, vector artwork such as AI, EPS or vector PDF is preferred wherever possible.
For photographic designs, a high-resolution JPG, PNG or TIFF is usually suitable.
Artwork Size & Shape
Your artwork should be supplied in a square format and should be suitable for the size of slipmat you have ordered.
For a standard 12-inch slipmat, we recommend supplying artwork at the required template size provided by Slipmatworld.
Important: Please do not simply stretch a rectangular image into a square, as this can distort your design.
If you are unsure about the correct dimensions, please contact us before submitting your artwork.
Keep Important Details Away From the Edge
Please take care when placing important text, logos or other details close to the outside edge of your design.
The printing and finishing process means that there can be a small amount of variation around the edge of the finished slipmat.
For this reason, we recommend keeping important information comfortably inside the printable area.
Avoid placing:
- Small text close to the edge
- Logos directly against the edge
- Important parts of photographs near the edge
- Thin borders that run right around the outside
A background or image that extends beyond the main design area is recommended.
Bleed
If your design has a background colour, photograph or artwork that extends to the edge of the slipmat, please ensure the artwork extends beyond the final trim area.
This is known as bleed.
Bleed helps prevent unwanted white edges if there is a small amount of movement during the manufacturing process.
If you're using one of our artwork templates, please follow the bleed and safe-area guides shown on the template.
Text & Fonts
If your design contains text, please make sure that fonts are either:
- Embedded in the artwork, or
- Converted to outlines/curves before submission.
This helps prevent fonts from changing or missing when your artwork is prepared for printing.
Avoid using extremely small text or very fine lines, as these may not reproduce clearly on the finished slipmat.
Images & Photographs
You can use your own photographs or high-resolution images for your custom slipmat.
For the best result:
- Use the highest-resolution original image available
- Avoid screenshots or images downloaded from social media
- Avoid heavily compressed images
- Check that your photograph is sharp and in focus
- Make sure important parts of the image are not too close to the edge
Images that look sharp on a phone or computer screen may not necessarily be high enough resolution for printing.
Colour
Please be aware that colours can look slightly different on screen compared with the finished printed product.
Different screens, phones and monitors can display colours differently, and printed colours may vary slightly from what you see digitally.
For the most accurate results, professionally prepared artwork using a suitable colour profile is recommended.
If exact colour matching is particularly important for your project, please contact us before ordering.
Logos & Branding
If you're supplying a company, artist or record-label logo, we recommend providing the original high-resolution or vector version wherever possible.
Avoid sending logos that have been copied from websites or social media, as these are often too small to produce a crisp print.
Artwork Approval
Depending on your order, we may review your artwork before production.
If we identify an issue that could affect the quality of the finished slipmat, we'll contact you where possible.
Please check your artwork carefully before submitting it.
Once production has started, changes may no longer be possible.
What If My Artwork Isn't Suitable?
Don't worry!
If you're unsure whether your artwork is suitable, send it to us and we'll take a look.
We can advise whether the file is likely to produce a good-quality result or whether a higher-resolution version would be preferable.
For particularly complex artwork, we may recommend that the artwork is professionally prepared before production.
Important: Copyright & Permission
By submitting artwork to Slipmatworld, you confirm that you have the necessary rights, permissions or licences to use the artwork.
This includes photographs, logos, artwork, illustrations, trademarks and other copyrighted material.
We cannot accept responsibility for artwork supplied by customers that infringes the copyright, trademark or other intellectual property rights of another person or organisation.
Slipmatworld reserves the right to refuse to print artwork where we have concerns regarding its legality or suitability.
